FLECSLAB project shortlisted for the Grundtvig Award 2025

Each year the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) recognises innovation and excellence in non-formal adult education.

The EAEA Grundtvig Award established in 2003, is presented to an organisation or consortium that has delivered the best transnational project in adult education. The award theme changes annually.

Project FLECSLAB which focused on flexible learning and research pathways, and on how diverse and adaptable learning opportunities support adult learners in meeting rapid societal challenges.

In 2025, the award in the transnational category was given to theCitizens Xelerator project. EAEA aimed to highlight initiatives that increase the flexibility of educational provision and promote greater participation of under-represented groups in lifelong learning.

FLECSLAB developed a lifelong learning tool and business modeltested in 12 connected learning communities EUTOPIAThe project engaged stakeholders from various sectors and 51 non-traditional students through interdisciplinary workshops and summer schools. The initiative brought together academics, industry partners, and the public sector to explore sustainable strategies for lifelong learning.

FLECSLAB identified the key conditions under which academia can open its services to lifelong learning and provided educators with flexible teaching strategies that place learners at the centre of academic practice.
