Within the framework of the Higher Education Curriculum and Transition Programme for Empowering Students with Different Abilities (DIFFABILITY) project, we have organised an event for students of the Faculty of Education from the second largest university in Slovenia - the University of Maribor. The main topic of the event was the presentation of the results of the DIFFABILITY project with a special focus on the possibilities of practical application of the service package for higher education institutions. The event was attended by students enrolled in special and rehabilitation education courses who already have practical experience of working with the target group, which stimulated discussion and exchange of experiences during the event. Their experiences confirm our findings and underline the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. In addition, a pilot project implemented by the UL research team based on the findings of the DIFFABILITY project was briefly presented. This project is based on the adaptation of courses at the Faculty of Social Sciences in order to attract deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired young individuals to enrol in the Faculty's programmes. In the framework of this project, adaptations of materials have been made, such as providing free and open access to video lectures with interpretation in Slovene sign language.
The target group of the event were students who in the future will also work with deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired individuals, which was the reason for choosing the venue (Faculty of Education) and inviting students who already have and will have more experience with the target group of the project.
