The publication Youth Work Initiatives and Impacts: a review of relevant academic and professional literature is an update of a publication published in 2019 under the title Myths and Truths about Youth Work: the impacts of local youth work. The present publication is a review of the literature on what youth work is and what its impacts are. The authors define youth work through its characteristics, actors, spaces where it takes place, objectives, vulnerable groups and quality.

They then identify a series of impacts of youth work, which they categorise into impacts on personal characteristics, impacts on professional characteristics, direct impacts on the community and impacts on the economic environment. The publication is a valuable source of data and arguments for all those involved in youth work advocacy in one way or another.
