At the beginning of November, we organised a workshop on filming and editing videos for students taking the 'Youth and Politics' and 'Comparative Politics of Human Rights' courses at the Faculty of Social Sciences. In both courses, students will prepare group research assignments, which will be presented in videos that they will film and edit themselves, presenting the themes and findings of their research assignments.
Based on feedback from teachers in the form of a survey and interviews, we have designed a series of one-day modular workshops that address under-covered but highly topical themes in the area of citizenship. Thus, we will conduct one-day workshops with top national and international experts: Dr. Mitja Sardoč (Pedagogical Institute), Dr. Jason A Laker (University of San Jose, USA), Dr. Karolina Babič (DOBA), Maja Drobne (Pina, FdV UL), Nina Vombergar (FdV UL), Dr. Howard Williamson (South Wales University, UK). All workshops are free of charge and you will be issued with a certificate of attendance that you can use for your promotion. The workshops will be run for groups of 10-15 participants, to ensure good communication and to keep you active, as the workshops are very practically oriented.
On Monday 17 July, we met as a wider team to check how the project is progressing. Together with Dr. Mitjo Sardoč and Prof. Dr. Tomaž Deželan, we checked how the project is progressing, assessed the steps taken so far and planned the next steps. This included a review of the analysis of textbooks and curricula, the analysis of interviews with civic education teachers, which were combined with a survey aimed at the same target group - both of which served to verify needs and to prepare a strategy. A similar workshop will be held in less than a year and external experts will be involved at that time as well.
Researchers from the University of Groningen and the University of Ljubljana met for a co-creation session to discuss the draft guideline for trainers in HE and in industry for implementing high-quality eWBL. The meeting was hosted by University of Ljubljana. The results of the discussion has indicated that while there are some disadvantages and challenges of implementing WBL remotely, there are also several solutions available that could offset some of the challenges. The leaders of the work package leaders stated that “with the support of the framework that they are developing, they aim to highlights not only the advantages of eWBL (flexibility, lower costs, digital competencies) but also the ways in which the disadvantages can be minimized”. The framework divides eWBL in five stages: design, preparation, onboarding, delivery, and assessment. Each stage is filled out with several theoretical and practical recommendations from literature and data collected in work package 1. The framework will be soon available for download in the project website. As remote work is becoming more popular, there is an increasing need for a robust pedagogical and technological model for “eWBL” that meets all the criteria for qualitative implementation and the delivery of the eWBL. It is within this context that eWBL project is conceived and implemented. The project aims to generate knowledge and provide guidance on how to deliver high quality eWBL from both a pedagogical and technological perspective.
