Student-centred learning and learning ergonomics are becoming important aspects of all types of educational institutions. By taking into account the central pedagogical and didactic position of educational institutions in each country, the project partners aim to highlight their role in contributing to the "making" of citizens through higher education and cultural awareness. The process of creating graduates and citizens is an experimental continuum that allows universities to provide the conditions for associative activities and to play the role of guardians of culture by preserving and revitalising the cultural heritage of the political community, while at the same time guiding it. It should be borne in mind that higher education institutions should not carry out such activities alone, but should seek help from local and regional experts in the fields of pedagogy, urban methodology and cultural activities. Although student-centred learning is somewhat difficult to define in terms of its methodology and the explicit content to be included, it is key to adapting to a more diverse student population and to changing needs in terms of how education is delivered. In order to adapt to these ambitions, traditional pedagogy, didactics and scholarship need to be re-examined, including the ways in which and where learning and teaching processes take place.

CREST - Second transnational project meeting

The second international project meeting took place on 13 July 2021, unfortunately not in person, but via the Zoom videoconferencing tool. The meeting was organised by Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas. During a few intense hours of socialising, we were first welcomed by the project leader, Prof. Dr. Tomaž Deželan. Zemartas Budrys from MB Homo Eminens presented the results related to [...]

CREST - Learning, teaching and training activity

The purpose of the training in the second week of December 2022 was to train participants from the University of Ljubljana, Creative Hub Croatia and Out of the Box International to properly engage in the process of repurposing spaces and to use the features of the developed model for repurposing educational buildings and its implementation with the manual (IO3). Unfortunately, we have had [...]

CREST - Multiplier event

The purpose of the multiplier event in Škofja Loka on 15 December 2022 was to present and disseminate the results of the project, in particular the model and the manual for the repurposing of educational buildings and premises in higher education institutions, to local, regional and national key stakeholders, such as decision-makers at government level, heads of faculties, other heads of higher education institutions and other interested participants. The [...]

CREST - Fifth transnational project meeting

In Split, we agreed to organise the second TPM in Ljubljana, as the first meeting could not be organised in a physical format due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The fifth transnational project meeting in Ljubljana took place from 19 to 21 September. It was held in a hybrid format.

CREST - Fourth transnational project meeting

The meeting in Brussels took place from 23 to 24 November 2022 and consisted of two parts - on the first day we had a working meeting on our project, and on the second day we attended a multiplier event by our Brussels partner Out of the Box International.

CREST - Third transnational project meeting

The meeting took place in Split on 11 and 12 April 2022. Marina, host and representative of Culture Hub Croatia, gave us an overview of the organisation and their SPACE. We got to know each other - our first physical meeting - and then got down to business.

CREST - First transnational project meeting

The first international project meeting took place on 10 November 2020. As this was the first meeting, it was also the official start of the whole project. All members of the project consortium (University of Ljubljana, Out of the Box International, Xwhy, Vytautas Magnus University, Culture Hub Croatia, Union of Baltic Cities) were present, and the meeting was [...]

CREST IO4 - Policy recommendation for local communities, higher education institutions and non-governmental organisations

The policy recommendations offer concrete suggestions to university management, local authorities (municipal and city administrations) and policy makers on how to develop a framework for the design and implementation of inclusive and participatory processes that support a meaningful role for different stakeholders in the processes leading to the change of use of buildings and spaces. This strengthens the role and influence of stakeholders in the processes leading to [...]

CREST IO3 - Manual for repurposing of educational spaces

The manual is based on the model for the repurposing of educational buildings and spaces for higher education institutions and non-formal education organisations (IO1) and on the mapping of existing participatory practices and models for the repurposing of educational buildings and spaces (IO2). The aim of the handbook is to challenge traditional pedagogical models and to provide new methodologies for a more inclusive, creative and [...]

CREST IO2 - A conceptual introduction to a model for the repurposing of educational buildings and premises for higher education facilities

The CREST (Creative Repurposing of Educational Spaces for Innovative Student-centred Environments) project has undertaken a literature review on participatory practices related to learning environments in educational institutions, especially universities, with a focus on student-centred learning. Our research takes place in a triangle whose corners are formed by student-centred learning (SCL), participatory design (PD) and [...]

CREST IO1 - Mapping of existing participatory practices and models for repurposing educational buildings and spaces

The intellectual output of the CREST project, over 40 pages, examines the concepts of student-centred learning, learning ergonomics, briefly reviews examples of good practice and creative hubs. In the second part, it explores digital tools and presents the findings of focus groups at the University of Ljubljana and Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas.
